Gulf Oil LP, a national branded supplier of motor fuels throughout the United States and its territories, has deployed 34 transport trucks that run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). In addition, Gulf will soon be supplying and distributing LNG to customers in the transportation sector and other interested bulk users.

In June 2021, DHL Freight started piloting a Bio-LNG solution (Bio-Liquefied Natural Gas from sustainable biomass) with Shell on three haulier trucks to reduce CO 2 emissions in road freight transport for DHL’s customer Grundfos. To fight against climate change, the transport sector needs true decarbonization.

The researchers hope to test the technology using Mack trucks from Westcan’s fleet, traveling Alberta Highway 2 between Edmonton and Calgary—a distance of about 300 km (186 miles). DME offers performance that is similar to diesel, making it suited for fleets that have to haul heavy loads. DME is a gas under ambient conditions.
