T&E: Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands lead deployments of zero-emission buses in Europe

In Luxembourg and the Netherlands about two-thirds of new buses were zero-emissions. However, Germany is now financing 80% of the higher purchase cost of e-buses. T&E said the EU’s €750-billion COVID recovery fund is a clear way to finance e-bus deployment.

Volvo Cars successfully places first green bond, raises €500M

The proceeds of the bond will be used to fund the design, development and manufacturing of fully electric cars in line with the company’s recently established Green Finance Framework. The settlement date is expected to be 7 October 2020 and the bonds will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.

Hamburg and Luxembourg have already signed contracts for supplies of the buses in 2014 and 2015. The project is co-financed by Life+, the EU’s financing program for environmental projects. A demo project that will bring eight more plug-in hybrid buses into service will commence next year in Stockholm.

Volvo Cars raises €500M for electrification through second green bond issue

The bond matures on 31 May 2028, pays a fixed coupon of 4.25%, equivalent to 291 basis points above mid-swap, and will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. In 2020, Volvo Cars established a Green Finance Framework in alignment with the ICMA Green Bond Principles.
