The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has preliminarily awarded $41 million to the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) for the Zero-Emission and Near Zero-Emission Freight Facilities (ZANZEFF) project. The State of California has the highest ratio of car ownership anywhere in the world, and in Los Angeles, almost 50% of the greenhouse gas emissions come for the transportation sector. If we are to be at the forefront of tackling climate change, reducing emissions from the automobile must be front and center.

In a recent vote, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) authorized Southern California Edison (SCE) to procure between 1,400 and 1,800 megawatts (MW) of electrical capacity in the Los Angeles basin. Separately and earlier, SCE may also file applications for gas-fired generation in order to expedite review of such contracts.
