The BMW Mini E has hit the streets. In June about 500 cars were placed in consumer and fleet hands in Los Angeles and New York and New Jersey for what BMW calls a " field trial." Like all the automakers, BMW dabbled in concept electric cars over the years. They produced a small fleet for the Munich Olympics in 1972.

The web was buzzing last week with stories about BMW’s MINI E. To recap, BMW will be leasing 500 MINI Es from dealers in New York, New Jersey and Southern California starting some time early in 2009. BMW will be installing their own fairly fast charger in your garage. It’s very cool!

BMW iX electric SUV launched in India . The German luxury car brand BMW has launched its fully electric SUV BMW iX in India with a price tag of Rs 1,15,90,000 (ex-showroom). The all-electric SUV BMW iX comes with a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP which is very important in any vehicle.

The automotive and green electric vehicle blogosphere has been abuzz with talk of the BMW MINI E ever since July 9th, 2008, when AutoblogGreen published the rumor that 500 of the intriguing new electric cars would be released later this year in California. If my speculation holds true congratulations are due both to BMW and AC Propulsion.
