Compared to using a conventional diesel engine, Keolis reduces carbon-dioxide emissions by 70% by using ethanol; for RME, the corresponding figure is 64%. In Europe, a new report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) found that the average car sold in the EU in 2012 was 9% more fuel-efficient than the average three years before, due to improved technology and an increase in the share of diesel cars.
