The US Department of Energy is awarding $620 million for projects around the country to demonstrate advanced Smart Grid technologies and integrated systems. The selected projects include advanced battery systems (including flow batteries), flywheels, and compressed air energy systems.

Lithium polymer battery packs from Corvus Energy were recently installed in Europe’s first hybrid tugboat, the RotorTug RT Adriaan of KOTUG, an international maritime service provider headquartered in The Netherlands. This diesel-to-hybrid retrofit represents Europe’s first low emissions hybrid tugboat.
