My ramblings on the 2022 EV scene I have an electric cycle, which is an eAdicct conversion kit added to a Schnell 26 inch cycle. Electric Scooter prices are competitive compared to petrol scooters. And if you are spending more than 10 lakhs on a petrol or diesel car, you need to get your head examined or read up on EV's.

Both FWD and AWD look near identical, and share a 71.4kWh battery. This again keeps the drive petrol-like ‘normal’ but it’s a trick missed not coming to a complete stop when off the throttle. The latter point makes the BZ4X AWD with its impressive off-road tech and decent 212mm ground clearance a challenging sell.

Okay, 97 per cent battery life and 387km range. If you want to keep the tyre mobility kit and power cable bags in the boot, this also eats into space. You feel you’re in a special and exceptionally high-tech offering. It’s as if Kia’s designers were properly let off the leash. Theatrical inside too. Looks expensive.

One oversight is the warranty, which is an undernourished four years or 80,000km (double that for the high voltage battery). Our car also had a bigger battery, which adds $5000. Taller folk may find their thighs a tad higher than the may prefer, a result of the battery built into the floor. Plus it had two option packs.

You could buy an EV9 Air, then something like a petrol Kia Cerato hatch as a second car with the money saved.
