Rolls-Royce mtu Kinetic PowerPack approved for renewable diesel

Green Car Congress

For HVO, waste vegetable and animal fats and used vegetable oils can be used as base materials, which are converted into hydrocarbons by means of a catalytic reaction with the addition of hydrogen. If the public power grid fails, the systems intervene immediately and without interruption because they are already in action anyway.

E.ON developing pilot hydrogen plant for storing wind power in the German gas grid

Green Car Congress

is developing a pilot plant in Falkenhagen in the north east of Germany to convert power from wind energy into hydrogen which can then be stored in the country’s gas grid. Using power from renewable energy sources, the plant will produce about 360 m 3 (30 kg) of hydrogen per hour from 2013 onwards through electrolysis.

thyssenkrupp’s water electrolysis technology qualified as primary control reserve in Germany; hydrogen production for the electricity market

Green Car Congress

In the future thyssenkrupp’s electrolysis plants will be able to act as large-scale buffers to stabilize the power grid and compensate fluctuations quickly and flexibly. Operators can now link their plants to the German electricity market via E.ON’s virtual power plant. With this we have achieved a further important goal.

What Is Bidirectional Charging? Understanding the Benefits for Both Drivers and Businesses

EV Connect

With bidirectional charging, the batteries in our vehicles can not only provide fuel for the road but energy for our homes and even our shared electrical grid. In one-directional charging, alternating current (AC) electricity is converted to direct current (DC) energy that’s stored in an EV battery to power the car.

Mercedes-Benz Cars plants in Germany to be supplied with CO2-neutral energy from 2022

Green Car Congress

However, today’s production grids are powered by alternating current—which has to be converted. The direct current generated from sunlight can be used directly in production or temporarily stored in industrial energy storage systems to compensate for the volatile availability of renewable energies.
