Managed by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control ( DNREC ), the ZEV program is designed to accelerate the commercialization of battery-electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell electric vehicles. In states already in the program, the automobile industry has successfully met the required percentage.

NHTSA’s proposal comes as the automobile industry is retooling future models in response to market demand for cleaner, more fuel-efficient vehicles. Nearly all auto manufacturers have announced new electric vehicle models, and five manufacturers have voluntarily agreed with California to achieve stricter greenhouse gas requirements.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) plans to build around 600 charging stations along National Highways in 22 states to enhance the country’s electric car infrastructure. The NHAI and the EV charging stations may form what is unquestionably the most powerful alliance in the Indian automobile industry.
