The entire engine range (115 to 220 PS) meets the Euro-6 standard. The TSI engines deliver 110 kW / 150 PS and 162 kW / 220 PS (a gain of 20 PS) respectively, with the 150 PS version consuming, in combination with the standard manual transmission, 6.4 The DSG transmission is included as standard with the top 220 PS engine.

During its recent Innovation Day presentations ( earlier post ), PSA Peugeot Citroën announced that it will commercialize high-efficiency gasoline engines featuring dedicated exhaust gas recirculation (D-EGR), derived from a collaborative program with SwRI in the US. Further standards such as LV-148 as defined by the Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) are providing further structure to the 48V nominal voltage approach, which allows high power energy recuperation without exceeding 60V. The exhaust gas can reach temperatures greater than 900 °C, whereas the turbine upper functional limit is 850 °C.

Under California’s vehicle emissions ratings, PZEVs (Partial Zero Emission Vehicles) meet SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) tailpipe emission standards and also have zero evaporative emissions. The SULEV standard, established under the current LEV II regulation, is equivalent to the Federal Tier 2 Bin 2 standard.
