In a new report, energy, mining and minerals consultancy Wood Mackenzie projects that despite efforts to limit coal consumption and seek alternative fuel options, China’s strong appetite for thermal coal will lead to a doubling of demand by 2030. to nearly 2.1 btpa by 2030. btpa of thermal demand.

Globally, the use of methanol as an alternative fuel has attracted interest because of its low production cost, renewable capacity, and good combustion-related properties (higher thermal efficiency, higher engine power, and lower regulated emissions). A paper on their work is published in the ACS journal Energy & Fuels.

The council recommended: Allowing more access to oil, natural gas and coal opportunities on federal lands. Any energy strategy would be incomplete, the report said, if it relied solely on existing supply and the promise of innovations in production. Cuts in this area would be terribly shortsighted.
