The American Lung Association has been named the 2017 Clean Fuels Champion by Chicago Area Clean Cities (CACC), a nonprofit coalition dedicated to promoting clean-energy and clean-air solutions for transportation in the Chicago area impacting nearly 9 million people. Air pollution poses a serious threat to our nation’s health.

AT&T has deployed its 4,000 th alternative-fuel vehicle (AFV) in its US corporate fleet. The vehicles are part of AT&T’s planned 10-year initiative to invest up to $565 million to replace approximately 15,000 fleet vehicles with alternative fuel models through 2018.

the world’s largest package delivery company and a provider of supply chain management solutions, placed 50 Lightning Hybrids hydraulic hybrid delivery trucks in the Chicago metro area. The first of the hydraulic hybrid systems were commissioned last week. In doing so fuel is saved and harmful emissions are cut.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state.

The City of Houston currently has the third largest municipal hybrid fleet in the country, with approximately 50% of the City’s non-specialty, light-duty fleet having been replaced with hybrid vehicles. Zipcar’s FastFleet technology has already been adopted through similar initiatives in Washington, DC, Chicago and Boston.

UPS has expanded its fleet of alternative-fuel vehicles with the deployment of 200 next-generation hybrid electric delivery trucks in eight US cities. Before this latest deployment, UPS was operating 50 hybrid electrics in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Phoenix. The hybrid system uses a parallel, pre-transmission design.
