The American Lung Association has been named the 2017 Clean Fuels Champion by Chicago Area Clean Cities (CACC), a nonprofit coalition dedicated to promoting clean-energy and clean-air solutions for transportation in the Chicago area impacting nearly 9 million people. Air pollution poses a serious threat to our nation’s health.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Smith Electric Vehicles announced that Smith will open an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Chicago. Chicago will be Smith’s third location in the United States, joining the headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., and a manufacturing facility in New York City.

The US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) will hold four alternative fuel workshops over the next three weeks. The Demonstration and Deployment Strategy Workshop will be held 12–13 March at Argonne National Laboratory’s Advanced Photon Source conference center outside of Chicago, Illinois.

AT&T has deployed its 4,000 th alternative-fuel vehicle (AFV) in its US corporate fleet. The vehicles are part of AT&T’s planned 10-year initiative to invest up to $565 million to replace approximately 15,000 fleet vehicles with alternative fuel models through 2018.

The US Department of Energy (DOE’s) Argonne National Laboratory is releasing an updated version of its AFLEET tool to reflect the latest advances in alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies and updated emissions data. There really isn’t a tool out there to look at alternative fuels and advanced vehicles in this way.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state.

The use of RNG is a very important part of UPS’ strategy to increase alternative fuel consumption to be 40% of total ground fuel purchases by 2025. We are using both liquid natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) as bridging fuels to increase our use of RNG. Louis and Toledo.
