ANGP gets exclusive license to UTRC technology for conformable natural gas vehicle storage tanks

Green Car Congress

The license applies to non-metal composite tanks containing activated carbon adsorbents at operating pressures of up to 1,000 psi. Natural gas vehicle adoption has been hampered in part by the bulky cylindrical tanks required to house the pressurized fuel; the tanks add weight and reduce storage space in a passenger car or light-duty truck.

Rhode Island's Renewable Energy Goal a Beacon for Other States

Cars That Think

Today, it might seem a bit optimistic to pin hopes for renewable energy on a state that still gets 89 percent of its electricity from natural gas. Its focus on renewables looks past New England’s largest source of carbon-free energy: fission. But Rhode Island plans to fill the gap with as much as 600 megawatts of new wind power.

ExxonMobil and Synthetic Genomics double lipid production in algae species without inhibiting growth

Green Car Congress

Researchers at Synthetic Genomics’ laboratory discovered a new process for increasing oil production by identifying a genetic switch that could be fine-tuned to regulate the conversion of carbon to oil in the algae species, Nannochloropsis gaditana. In 2016, ExxonMobil announced its partnership with Connecticut-based FuelCell Energy, Inc.
