US Department of Interior Conditionally Approves Shell’s Exploration Plan For Certain Chukchi Sea Leases in Arctic

The 2008 sale was included in the previous Administration’s 2007-2012 Five-Year Oil and Gas Leasing Program to cover leasing for oil and gas in the Outer Continental Shelf for that five-year period. EPA blocks Pebble copper mine in Alaska to protect Bristol Bay salmon ecosystem

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a Final Determination under Section 404(c) of the Clean Water Act (CWA) that blocks the development of Northern Dynasty Mineral’s proposed Pebble copper and gold mining project in Alaska. NDM says that the Pebble deposit is the world’s largest undeveloped copper and gold resource.
