Study Finds Damage, Pollution from Western Wildfires Could Surge With Moderate Global Warming

By 2055, wildfires in the western United States could scorch about 50% more land than they do now, causing a sharp decline in the region’s air quality, according to a new study by atmospheric researchers at Harvard. The increase is due mainly to the simulated rise in wildfire frequency in the future, warmer climate.
