The world’s leading EV maker, BYD , is taking aim at exotic car manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini with the new Yangwang U9. seconds and a $233,400 (1,680,000 yuan) price tag. The entry-level EVs will take on mass-market automakers like Toyota. Like the U8 SUV, the U9 includes premium features like tank turns.

Toyota made the car, the Prius, that made plug-in conversions possible, and now they are trying to rein in the desires unleashed. Whatever it's called, it's got Toyota in a tizzy.

If that’s your theory then you may have to re-evaluate after Ponway, California-based Plug-In Conversions Corp (PICC) completed a software upgrade conversion kit that enables all-electric mode driving at up to 70mph in a converted Prius. The software upgrade will retail for $2,000-$2,500 and be made available for sale later this month.
