Malic acid is used as a flavor enhancer in the food industry and can be converted into other chemical derivatives used for a variety of plastic, polymer and resin products. The emissions further drop to ~70% if we consider 2G ethanol which is produced using farm waste. Ethanol production from farm waste such as corn cob, rice husk, wheat straw and sugarcane bagasse, is known as second generation ethanol (2G). India has already started setting up 2G plants, which use crop waste for ethanol production.

V2G helps solve the major problem that demand for electricity is high during the day when everything from industrial plants to air conditioning is running full blast and then excess electricity is wasted at night.
