Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles refer to vehicles that are equipped with both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. Even with the racket of fossil fuels being used for gasoline, PHEVs make it so less gas is being pumped from the earth, since these vehicles use gas in addition to batteries. ICE refers to “internal combustion engine.” In other words, ICE refers to the old-school vehicles that BEV fans call “gas guzzlers.” Wrong, wrong, wrong!
