Colorado has voted to approve a new standard on the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), with an additional goal set for 2032 and new guidance for increasing EV sales beginning in 2027. Notably, the release says that the standard does not prohibit the sale or use of non-electric vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICEs).

In this proposed rule, heavy-duty Class 2b and 3 vehicles are referred to as "medium-duty vehicles" (MDVs) to distinguish them from Class 4 and higher vehicles that remain under the heavy-duty program. In 2014, Volkswagen of America announced that starting with the launch of the zero-tailpipe emissions battery-electric 2015 e-Golf ( earlier post ), it would invest in projects to offset the carbon emissions created from the e-Golf on a full lifecycle basis: production, distribution and up to approximately 36,000 miles (57,936 km) of driving.
