Ford Motor Company, in conjunction with GE, will supply electric vehicle charging stations at Ford facilities nationwide, beginning with facilities in and around its headquarters. Ford now offers three plug-in vehicles: the battery electric Focus Electric, and the C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrids.

The City of Indianapolis will upgrade 425 non-police-pursuit sedans in its muncipal fleet to plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles by early 2016, cut the size of the fleet by 100 vehicles, and save $8.7 America’s dependence on oil ties our national and economic security to a highly-unpredictable, cartel-influenced global oil market.

Ford is pricing the new C-MAX Energi—expected to offer 15 class-exclusive features, a 550-mile (885 km) total range and more than 20 miles (32 km) of electric-only range ( earlier post )—at $33,745. Ford’s other electrified vehicles include the Focus Electric; all-new Fusion Hybrid; and the Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid.

At Consumer Electronics Show Asia, Ford launched a strategic collaboration with Haier (home appliance), Trina Solar (solar power) and Delta Electronics (power management) to introduce MyEnergi Lifestyle ( earlier post ) to China, a holistic approach for lowering the energy costs and carbon footprint of Chinese families.

When Auto Start-Stop debuts in North America, it will be available on gasoline-powered cars and utilities with either a manual or automatic transmission as well as vehicles that use Ford’s patented dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission. The fuel-saving system eventually will be offered in all of Ford’s global markets.
