Zipcar has nearly 40 vehicles in approximately 20 locations throughout the greater Sacramento area. Zipcar was the first car-sharing company in the United States to introduce electric vehicles, starting in Boston in 2002, and the first to offer hybrid vehicles through a partnership with Honda in Seattle in 2003.

Chrysler Group LLC, working in partnership with the US Department of Energy (DOE), will deliver 10 demonstration fleet Ram 1500 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) pickup trucks to Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). —Abdullah Bazzi, senior manager of Chrysler’s advanced hybrid vehicle project.

The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state. Total DOE award: $15,000,000.

We would like to take this opportunity to report on our efforts to demonstrate to automakers that a market for plug-in hybrid vehicles exists in the United States today. The Plug-In Partners campaign has now surpassed 6,000 fleet orders. As fleet orders increase, city governments around the country also continue to join the coalition.

Evidence for Electrics Piles Up at ZEVTech Plug In America and the Electric Auto Association were well represented and well received at the California Air Resources Board Zero Emission Vehicle Technical Review in Sacramento. GM announced its intention to “place” 100 FCVs with fleets and consumers over the next few years.
