According to a report from the Washington Post , the EPA will likely grant California a waiver to implement the regulations in the coming weeks. It is unlikely that these new regulations will go without challenge.

These grants are available when a vehicle is either purchased or leased for 36 months or longer. While in EV Mode, the Prius Plug-in is rated by the EPA to drive up to 11 miles.
