We were quite surprised to find that polycarbonate plastic biodegrades in the environment. This finding challenges the wide public belief that hard plastics remain unchanged in the environment for decades or centuries. Biodegradation, of course, releases BPA to the environment. The first phase of this $32-million refinery is slated to be operating within a year of funding, producing 5 million gallons a year of biodiesel made from waste vegetable oils obtained from restaurants and commercial food producers, and animal fats obtained from rendering operations. CNG is much less polluting than conventional diesel.

To ignore this potential is wasteful and foolish. It is wasteful and destructive to be burning this versatile molecule; we must stop. The electrical system has perhaps 85% excess capacity most of the year which means we are wasting money in excess electric generation and distribution infrastructure and resources.
