The MOU establishes a process for appointing Integrated Energy to be the dealer of Detroit Electric products in Jeju Island, South Korea. Sales are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2015, and Integrated Energy will place an initial order of 300 vehicles at the signing of the dealer agreement.

Our Next Energy (ONE), a Michigan-based energy storage technology company focusing on lithium iron phosphate chemistries ( earlier post ), will invest $1.6 billion in a new battery cell manufacturing plant, called ONE Circle, in Van Buren Township, Michigan. ONE’s inclusive workforce development program will begin in 2024.

The US Department of Energy is awarding $620 million for projects around the country to demonstrate advanced Smart Grid technologies and integrated systems. The selected projects include advanced battery systems (including flow batteries), flywheels, and compressed air energy systems.

Ford, Detroit Edison and Xtreme Power are teaming up to establish one of Michigan’s largest solar power generation systems and electric vehicle charging stations at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Mich. Ford will work with Detroit Edison to install a 500 kW solar photovoltaic panel system at Michigan Assembly.

The extended range electric vehicle drive system by Raser Technologies and its development partner FEV is targeted at providing up to 40 miles all-electric range for SUVs and light trucks. SIDI turbocharged engine provides electrical power. Preliminary road testing of the HUMMER EREV showed 50 miles all-electric range.
