At the Mid-America Trucking show, PACCAR companies Kenworth and Peterbilt introduced more fuel efficient version of their heavy-duty models: the Kenworth T680 Advantage and the Peterbilt Model 579 with EPIQ package. Kenworth Truck Company and Peterbilt Motor Company will expanding their alternative fuel line-up by offering the Cummins Westport ISX12 G heavy duty natural gas engine ( earlier post ) for use in regional haul, vocational and refuse markets. Peterbilt uses the ISL G and Westport GX engine. Next-generation Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.

Achates Power previously announced the opposed-piston has entered fleet service with WALMART Corporation in a Peterbilt 579 tractor. The PEMS measurements conducted by UC-Riverside for CALSTART on the Peterbilt 579 powered by the Achates Power 10.6L Achates Power is also testing a Gen2 design on its transient dynamometer.
