Coltura: Federal & state EV policy & incentives must target gasoline superusers to achieve carbon emissions goals

Advocacy group Coltura has published a report that finds converting the biggest users of gasoline to EVs in the next ten years is critical to reaching climate goals and that present EV policies are poorly suited to accomplishing that conversion. Among the findings of the report: Drivers are highly unequal in their gasoline consumption.

KiOR signs second offtake agreement for renewable gasoline and diesel blendstocks

KiOR combines a proprietary catalyst system with a biomass-to-renewable crude conversion technology to produce a high-quality oil called Re-Crude using a process similar to Fluid Catalytic Cracking used in the oil industry. Re-Crude is refined into gasoline and diesel blendstocks that are compatible with existing fuel infrastructure.

US DOE awards KiOR loan guarantee supporting a more than $1B biofuels project; drop-in fuels from wood biomass

The project would convert wood biomass into drop in biofuels such as gasoline and diesel fuel. The first two plants are expected to be in Mississippi, with additional sites planned in Georgia and Texas. The second and third facilities built in Mississippi will be the first two facilities built under the terms of this DOE project.

CenterPoint adding natural gas vehicles to fleet, more fueling stations

CenterPoint Energy, a US energy delivery company, is adding 35 natural gas vehicles to its fleet across Arkansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. A number of retail gasoline stations have also begun exploring plans to add natural gas pumps to their locations.
