Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) unveiled the e-BULLI. A 45 kWh lithium-ion battery is responsible for supplying the electric motor with power. In addition, the on-board electronics are supplied with 12 volts via a DC/DC converter. The company is also offering qualified dealers a ready-to-fit parts kit.

Researchers at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU), founded by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in cooperation with the University of Ulm, have developed a new lithium-metal battery that offers extremely high energy density of 560 Wh/kg—based on the total weight of the active materials—with remarkably good stability.

The new model line is based on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB). Volkswagen will unveil the ID. Buzz electric microbus on 9 March as the ID.

Researchers at MIT had earlier demonstrated the ability to make biopropane (LPG from corn or sugarcane) using a supercritical water process, and created a startup (C3 BioEnergy) in 2007 that attempted to commercialize the technology.
