Plug In America, along with the Electric Vehicle Association and the Sierra Club , joined the effort and the first National Plug In Day was held on October 16th, 2011. EVs require less maintenance and therefore have lower maintenance costs. In 2014, the day was expanded to a whole week and National Drive Electric Week was born.

On April 6, Walmart announced that by 2030 it intends to build its own DC fast-charging network at “thousands of Walmart and Sam’s Club locations coast-to-coast.” As of April 6, 2023, using Alternative Fuel Data Center (AFDC) data, 285 Walmart/Sam’s Club stores had DC fast chargers.

Nissan and Eaton also announced a 10-year deal with Amsterdam ArenA—home of Ajax Football Club and world-famous entertainment venue—to provide back-up power to the arena from second-life Nissan LEAF batteries. Consumers can opt to purchase units powered by either second-life EV batteries or new batteries.

Consumers will not automatically make the switch to plug-in electric vehicles if running costs are high, a recharging station network is not in place, or if new technologies are not user-friendly, according to a new policy paper by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) European Bureau.

Behr-Getz was chosen to participate in Project Driveway because she would likely purchase a fuel cell vehicle out of concern for the environment and to reduce the nation’s use of petroleum. Feedback and learning from the Equinox fuel cell is being shared with the Volt development team.

I set up the partnership between ChargePoint and Solar Smart Living and helped many commercial and residential customers make the transition to electric charging.
