Editor & Publisher reports the NY Times has taken delivery of a long-awaited plug-in hybrid Sprinter Van from Daimler/Chrysler. The van, a Dodge Sprinter PHEV, will be kept at the paper’s printing plant in College Point, Queens and will be used to transport papers. It will perform everyday duties.

Chrysler alone, for instance, may have 3 different battery pack shapes in its upcoming models. Of course, EVs that arent designed for battery swaps wont use it, and plug-in hybrids wont need it. The other proposal that makes some sense is adding on-the-fly charging to carpool/hybrid lanes on highways that many states already have.
