Hyundai’s 2018 Plug-in Hybrid Ioniq ( earlier post ) is heading to dealerships now—joining the Hybrid and Electric models—with an aggressive starting price of $24,950—$5,000 less than the full battery-electric version of the Ioniq but with more than five times the range. The Ioniq Electric: 180 g/mile.

Michael O’Brien, the company’s US corporate manager, believes there are “serious challenges” towards making plug-ins and electric vehicles viable and has expressed concern about range, cost and charging times. He believes this is because the technology was unsuitable, with many electric vehicles limited to shorter, urban use.

So youll have a cleaner, cheaper, quieter car for your local travel, and the gas tank is always there should you need to drive longer distances.
