Graphite contains flat layers of carbon atoms, and during battery charging, lithium atoms are stored between these layers in a process called intercalation. These nanodots, roughly 10 nanometers wide, were connected to the MXene’s layers by carbon materials. A paper on their work is published in the journal Small.
