The National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries (NAATBatt) ( earlier post ) has selected a site in Hardin County, Kentucky to build a more than $600-million automotive lithium-ion battery plant. Kentucky was selected over Texas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.

Last year people were able to get unleveraged tax equity financing to monetize the production tax credits at yields to the tax investor of 6-7%; this year tax equity investors are seeking yields ranging from 10-15% for leveraged tax equity transactions utilizing the investment tax credit that is now available under the Stimulus Bill.

The first step to stopping the building of any future coal-fired power plants in the USA is to mandate that every single housing unit in this country cut it’s energy use by at least 40% over the next 12 years and then by 80% by 2050.
