In the initial phase, the aim is to install nearly 100 DC Fast charging ports across both coasts, with plans to expand the program to increase access to fast charging across the country. These newly installed DC Fast chargers will be added to the growing ChargePoint network of more than 20,000 charging spots in North America.

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers can now travel the most heavily-trafficked corridors on the East and West Coasts of the United States with the installation of 95 new DC Fast charging stations as part of the Express Charging Corridors Initiative—a collaboration of BMW of North America, Volkswagen of America, Inc.

Electrify America also will continue to invest in these Cycle 1 metros: Boston, Chicago, Denver, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle and Washington, DC. This will include building new sites connecting regional destinations and filling in existing routes as station utilization of the highway network increases.

Coulomb’s ChargePoint America program provides approximately 4,500 charging stations to program participants in ten regions in the United States: Austin/San Antonio, Texas, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando/Tampa, Sacramento, Calif., Washington DC/Baltimore, Southern Michigan (including Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor and Detroit).

Joining Electrify America in this initiative are SemaConnect, EV Connect and Greenlots. Employees with chargers at their workplace are six times more likely to drive a plug-in electric vehicle than the average worker, and chargers located at the workplace can potentially double an electric vehicle owner’s daily driving range.
