In February, the leader was the Volvo XC40 PHEV, scoring its second win in a row, this time with 231 units, while its BEV twin was 5th, with 114 registrations, both helping the Swedish SUV to become the 3rd best selling model in the overall market (#1 Ford Fiesta; #2 Kia Picanto), as 59% of the smaller Volvo registrations came from these two.

While BEVs were a hot item last month, jumping 81%, to a record 407.000 units, PHEVs were even hooter, shooting 205% in December, allowing them to end the year with 31% of plugin sales, up 5% from the 26% of 2019, giving credit to those that say that PHEVs will still be around for a while. Followed by another Tesla (Model Y - 80k).

In a red hot market, where BEVs jumped 183% YoY and PHEVs shooted 6-fold in March, plugin sales had their second best month ever, with 29,737 units, allowing the plugin share to reach 16% last month (8.5% 4 starting its career in #21, with 408 units, just one unit ahead of the #22 VW Golf PHEV. Tesla Model 3 #1 in France!

If every car accepts 2 or 4 or 6 of these universal packs then true economies of scale can kick in in their manufacture. Im certain that they have customers that make 240 KW look like a 9v battery. Takes the car companies out the battery business.
