Westport AB, a Westport Fuel Systems company, announced that Volvo Car will introduce the Bi-Fuel version of its new V90 station wagon in Belgium and Luxembourg. Belgium currently has 5,400 natural gas vehicles on the road and a developed infrastructure network that includes 73 CNG stations.

The Volvo C40 Recharge pure electric will start at an MSRP of $58,750 in the United States before tax credits. Vehicle production will begin in Ghent, Belgium this fall with the first US customer deliveries planned for the fourth quarter of 2021.

Following the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany and Belgium, Norway is the 5 th European country to start selling the fuel cell sedan. The program offers many incentives that will make fuel cell cars even more attractive: these cars are exempt from registration taxes and value added tax, which can be very high in the country.

Toyota will launch the Mirai fuel cell vehicle in Sweden and Norway this summer, following other European countries that have introduced the Toyota Mirai in 2015 (UK, Germany and Denmark) or early 2016 (Belgium). The Netherlands will follow later this year. The Mirai launched in Japan in December 2014 and in the US in 2015.

I believe there is potential for green vehicles to represent 10% of the new car market within 10 years, although the road to get there will be bumpy. The adoption of all forms of green vehicles will be significantly influenced by government policies. It is clear that this innovation is a priority for car manufacturers.
