IDTechEx: Nio spearheading battery swapping expansion beyond China

Battery swap stations are Nio’s signature replenishment facility, and it is currently the only company offering such models to the general consumer. There are also other companies in China that offer models with battery swap support, but for the taxi market. Swapping to become more efficient by using smaller batteries.

MAN, a member of the Volkswagen Group, is now selling a battery-electric van, the MAN eTGE. A 40 kW charging station fills a battery up to 80% in 45 minutes. With the relevant battery maintenance, the 36 kWh rechargeable battery only loses around 15% of its ca-pacity after ten years and around 2,000 charging cycles.

ZF and MKR Technology develop hybrid drive for the Dakar Rally

An automatic transmission from ZF is also installed in the driveline. On test circuits in Poland, France and the Netherlands, the team was able to snatch a few seconds off their usual times. Volvo Car Corporation begins production of the Volvo C30 Electric for leasing customers in Europe

The Volvo C30 Electric will be manufactured and delivered to leasing customers throughout Europe, including in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway. The batteries are installed where the fuel tank normally sits and also in a special compartment in the car’s central tunnel. A full recharge takes about 7 hours.

ABB deploys Austria’s first EV fast-charging network

ABB has delivered and installed Austria’s first network of direct current (DC) fast-charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs). ABB’s Terra stations can recharge an EV battery in as little as 15 to 30 minutes, compared with eight hours when using a regular alternating current (AC) power outlet.

ABB installing electric-vehicle fast chargers at BP service stations in Netherlands

Power and automation technology group ABB has started installing multiple fast-charging systems for electric vehicles (EVs) at some BP service stations in the Netherlands as part of a nationwide trial.
