As part of the THINKTANK Industrial Resource Strategies, researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) have been working with Audi on the pilot project “Chemical Recycling of plastics from automotive manufacturing.” The material cycles closed in this way save valuable resources, energy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This is where Audi and its partner companies Reiling Glas Recycling, Saint-Gobain Glass, and Saint-Gobain Sekurit are now doing pioneering work as part of a joint pilot project. If this pilot is successful, the windows that are produced this way will be used in models in the Audi Q4 e-tron series in the future.

The Audi Environmental Foundation is working with the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology to research new ways of recovering raw materials through recycling. A selective extraction process is planned that will recover these raw materials from incinerated waste. In Germany, household waste is usually incinerated.

Audi introduced its flagship electric SUV e-tron in 2018. Audi SQ8 Sportback e-tron quattro, Audi Q8 e-tron quattro. With their two motors, the Audi Q8 55 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron generate 300 kW in boost mode and 664 N·m of torque. There are also 62 liters available in the frunk.

Audi has put a new service-water supply center into operation at the Ingolstadt site. In this way, Audi will saves up to 500,000 cubic meters of fresh water each year. With the new service-water supply center, Audi is making more efficient use of water as a resource. Finally, reverse osmosis removes residual salts.
