UPS will add 200 new series hybrid electric delivery trucks to the company’s growing alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. Equipped with lithium ion batteries and a range-extender engine, these trucks will deliver significant fuel economy equivalency gains, approximately four times the fuel economy of a gasoline powered vehicle.

The 3,800 team members, as Hyundai calls them, are building the all-new 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 that joins electric models of the GV60 EV and the Electrified G80 , both of which are assembled in South Korea. Both GV70s share a platform that was specifically designed for a gasoline engine and electric motors.

During the late innings of the ICE-age (as in the Internal Combustion Engine age) it has become clear that feeding gasoline and diesel to the next billion new cars is not going to be easy, or cheap. By contrast, at 25 miles per $3 gallon of gasoline, those miles cost 12 cents each. New cars in 2015 get 25 mpg.)

In this time Genesis went from being a model in the Hyundai line-up to becoming a car company on its own. The current line-up, a combination of gasoline-powered and battery electric sedans and SUVs, will be all-electric in 2030. note: “Electrified” is Genesis current nomenclature for its EV.

With strong encouragement and support of the Ford team, a robust charging network and a great car, the 1,796 miles was as pleasant and easy to drive as it would be in any other car.
