The European innovation project Flagships will deploy the world’s first commercial cargo transport vessel operating on hydrogen, plying the river Seine in Paris. Commercial operations are set to commence in 2021. Blue Line Logistics plans to have the ship operating on hydrogen before the end of 2021.

a developer of emission-free, energy-dense ammonia power solutions ( earlier post ), signed a letter of intent and a lease with Sustainable Energy Catapult Center in Norway to initiate testing operations for Amogy’s 200kW ammonia-to-power platform at the recently-launched testing facility for new and sustainable energy solutions in Stord, Norway.

Independent research and business intelligence company Rystad Energy estimates that there are about 91 planned hydrogen pipeline projects in the world, totaling 30,300 kilometers and due to come online by around 2035. New hydrogen infrastructure is starting to materialize as the world seeks to accelerate its path to net zero.

In a study published in Nature Energy , researchers led by Kyoto University’s Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) describe how nanodiamond-reinforced composite membranes can purify hydrogen from its humid mixtures, making the hydrogen generation processes more efficient and cost-effective.

Following the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany and Belgium, Norway is the 5 th European country to start selling the fuel cell sedan. Uno-X Hydrogen, a newly established joint-venture that plans to establish a 20-station hydrogen network by 2020 in Norway, is the first customer in that country to take ownership of the Toyota Mirai.

In response what it said is widespread interest from European customers, Nikola Motor Company has designed a hydrogen-electric truck for European markets. European testing is projected to begin in Norway around 2020. Nikola is currently working with Nel Hydrogen of Oslo to provide hydrogen stations for USA.
