Kia launching new diesel 48V mild-hybrid powertrain in 2018 on Sportage; more models to come

Kia Motors will introduce its first 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain in the second half of 2018. The Kia Sportage will be the first model to offer the new EcoDynamics+ diesel mild-hybrid powertrain later in 2018. The new third-generation Kia Ceed will be the second among a range of Kia models to offer the new powertrain from 2019.

Volkswagen bringing 48V MHEV to eight-generation Golf

While the Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) charges the battery via the grid with a plug, the MHEV does not have a battery that can be recharged via a plug, but is equipped with a 48V belt starter generator.

New Hyundai Tucson in Europe features 48 V mild hybrid diesel powertrain

Production of the new compact SUV starts in June 2018, to be launched in the European market in summer. kW/h 48-volt lithium-ion battery, a Mild Hybrid Starter Generator (MHSG), a LDC converter (Low Voltage DC/DC) and an inverter. During in-gear deceleration and braking, energy is recuperated to recharge the battery.
