Unitrans, the University of California, Davis transit system, has purchased six Xcelsior CHARGE battery-electric, forty-foot heavy-duty transit buses from NFI subsidiary New Flyer of America Inc. UC Davis utilized the California Department of General Services (DGS) contract for the procurement.

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has posted a discussion document. Mandate a fraction of bus purchases to be zero emission technology starting in 2018, and set a goal of complete transit fleet transition to zero emission technologies by 2040. About 57% of the transit vehicles are operating on natural gas while six% are hybrids.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has set goals to offer Zero-Carbon Redeem renewable natural gas (RNG) at all of its fueling stations by 2025. Zero-Carbon is based on the average carbon index score (approved by the California Air Resources Board) of Clean Energy’s fuel supply portfolio.
