Renault and Better Place formed a strategic partnership in Australia, expanding their global relationship. Renault and Better Place will commence a joint marketing campaign in the lead up to launch in 2012. It will be sold everywhere in Europe and together with Better Place, in Israel and Denmark. Better Place CEO Evan Thornley, who took over in October 2012 ago after the departure of founding CEO Shai Agassi ( earlier post ), is now out, according to the company. Thornley presented the plan to the board of Israel Corporation, Better Place’s controlling shareholder, in December.

Better Place, a high-profile developer and proponent of a battery switch model for electric vehicles ( earlier post ), filed a motion with the Lod District Court in Israel to ask for the dissolution of the company and the appointment of a temporary liquidator. We have come a long way in order to bring about a global vision.

A similar process will follow in Canberra, Australia in the second quarter of 2012. New investors in the Series C round include GE and UBS AG, among others.
