The study examined the fuel-cycle CO 2 , SO 2 , and NO x emissions of EVs in China in both current (2008) and future (2030) periods and compared them with those of conventional gasoline vehicles and gasoline hybrids. Generation mix of the six interprovincial power grids in 2008. The power of EVs is electricity from the grid.

The increase from 2012 to 2013 was due to an increase in the carbon intensity of fuels consumed to generate electricity due to an increase in coal consumption, with decreased natural gas consumption, according to the report. By sector, power plants were the largest source of emissions, accounting for 31% of total US greenhouse gas pollution.

A pilot project by We Energies, Alstom and The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) testing an Alstom advanced chilled ammonia process ( earlier post ) has demonstrated more than 90% capture of carbon dioxide from the flue stream of a coal-fueled power plant in Wisconsin (the Pleasant Prairie Carbon Capture Pilot Plant ).

Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles. Denmark did that with Wind Power and now most of their energy comes from wind rather than oil, natural gas, or coal. It is 12 years later. The management at GM are liars.
