I’ve followed Tesla since 2008 and invested in the company after it went public in 2010. They were great early communicators of the feasibility of electrifying the auto industry and the necessity to do it. I fully divested from Tesla (TSLA), selling all my shares. I’m going to try to explain why.

In this country a lot of the new cars are purchased by higher income households and a typical modest income household is driving a used car.The typical American that is buying a new car, which costs on average $28,000, isn’t currently driving a car that costs $2,000.

The details of that specific situation may result in an electric vehicle parc somewhat different than in Western countries, other speakers noted, and may indeed—given the obvious scale of the China market—herald a major transformation in transportation, including the type and role of personal vehicles, others suggested.

Not what you think When the wrap finally comes off, though, I think there will be some surprise for anyone who had hopes of rushing out to a dealership to buy their first 100 m.p.g. Yep, a truck.
