Strategic Biofuels announced that its Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) Test Well Program was successfully completed at the company’s Louisiana Green Fuels Project (LGF) in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. The program used oil field workers and traditional oilfield equipment to advance this green energy project.

gigawatt hours (GWh) of gravity energy storage to support DG Fuels across multiple projects, with the first project slated for 500 megawatt hours (MWh) in Louisiana. DG Fuels expects to complete its Louisiana SAF project by mid-2022. The Louisiana facility is the company’s first major project.

Planned feedstocks include a mix of waste fats, oils and greases, including regionally-sourced vegetable oils, animal fats and used cooking oil. This includes REG Geismar, a 75-million-gallon nameplate capacity plant located in Louisiana that was the first renewable diesel plant built in North America.

Although the existing refinery has a maximum rated crude processing capacity of 70,000 bpd, due to a 2008 bankruptcy of the prior owner, crude oil refining was temporarily suspended. the routes over which the crude oil will be transported.
