Micro hybrid vehicles are traditional gasoline- or diesel-powered cars with automatic, battery-powered stop-start systems that shut off the engine while the vehicle is at rest and restart it upon re-engaging the gas pedal. Nickel-zinc batteries are chemically very similar to nickel-cadmium, NiCd.

Thermal storage in essence involves the capture and release of heat or cold in a solid, liquid or air and potentially involving changes of state of the storage medium, e.g. from gas to liquid or solid to liquid and vice versa.

The advantages of lead-acid batteries are mainly: safety sealing, gas discharge system, simple maintenance, long service life, stable quality, and high reliability; the disadvantage is that the pollution of lead is significant, and the energy density is low (that is, too bulky).
