The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Southern Company, and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) are together contributing more than $20 million in research funding to support the SouthEast Atmosphere Study (SAS).

Odyne, in conjunction with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District of California, has been selected to participate in a $45 million dollar DOE grant. The plant was the first in the United States to manufacture Lithium-ion cells and complete hybrid battery systems for automobiles.

The grant will provide funds for the installation of ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations for electric vehicles in three California metro regions: Los Angeles, Sacramento and the San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area. The EPRI stations will be used to collect research data on the requirements of workplace charging.

Each has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Chrysler to equip post offices in strategically selected regions of the United States with a charging infrastructure for the envisioned program. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) also has signed an LOI to provide USPS integration tools.
