The technology takes energy from the grid and converts it to direct current (DC) voltage. Once the energy is transferred to the secondary coil across the air gap it is converted back to DC, charging the vehicle’s battery pack. UPS appreciates the Department of Energy’s support on this effort.

Leclanché expands marine electrification solution to include fast charger for ports, harbors and vessels; Damen 1st adopter

Its first customer for the turnkey solution is Damen Shipyards Group, a globally operating company with more than 50 shipyards and related facilities, which has selected Leclanché to construct and provide two fast charge electric ferry stations, and supporting electrical storage systems, on Canada’s Lake Ontario.

Volkswagen commissions fast-charging park with 570 kWh of second-life MEB cell modules

At the Zwickau vehicle plant, Volkswagen commissioned the first fast-charging park in Saxony supplied with energy largely from a power storage container (PSC). The PSC is an electricity storage unit and consists of 96 cell modules with a net capacity of 570 kWh.

The first wave of F-150 production-ready prototype extended range electric vehicles is soon due to be delivered to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to kick-off a pilot study in the PG&E fleet. Specs for the powertrain in the F-150 include a 2.0L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine powering an 82 kW (peak) Remy DC generator.

Eos Energy Storage announced the commercial availability of its MW-scale Aurora system for deliveries starting in 2016. The Aurora product employs Eos’s patented Znyth battery technology that uses a safe aqueous electrolyte and a novel zinc-hybrid cathode to enable extremely low-cost electricity storage and long life.
