The fifth and final session of negotiations on the establishment of an international mercury convention—International Negotiating Committee on Mercury (INC5)—is taking place this coming week in Geneva. UNEP produced its first Global Mercury Assessment in 2002 and a subsequent study in 2007.

Life-cycle CO 2 emissions from nuclear, wind, biomass, and solar power appear to be negligible when compared with fossil fuels.

Electrek’s Take I’ve argued before that the EV cost parity conversation doesn’t make any sense , and I still hold that position. Especially for commercial customers who are often more spreadsheet-driven, where the benefits of longer-term fuel and maintenance savings are more clear than they are to the mercurial consumer.

Just like, say, Ford—which was then in the process of killing Mercury, to leave it with only Ford and Lincoln. The company has committed $800 million to that conversion. They will be used to support Walmart’s expanding network of last-mile deliveries from its stores and distribution centers directly to customers’ homes.
